Our People

Sophia Kainourgiou was born in Volos. She is a graduate of the Alexandroupolis Pedagogical Academy and of the Major Training at Marasleion Teaching School.

She has served for 26 years as a teacher and Head teacher in public primary schools across the country, by implementing environmental education programs.

Over the past ten years she has been Environmental Education Coordinator in the 2nd region of Athens of Primary Education, where she organized and co-ordinated training seminars for primary school teachers.

She has worked closely with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF), as a Board member (March 2015), as a member of the Coordination Committee of the networks ‘Learning about forests’ and ‘Green Corners in my Neighborhood’ and as a member of the Society’s Educational Programs Committee. She has participated as a co-author in the publications of EEPF and she is a children’s book writer.
