This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
A Green Key stands for an establishment's promise to its guests that by opting to stay with such an establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and sustainability level. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits.
Green Key is conducted as a certification Programme for leisure organizations who want to increase the awareness of the owners, staff, stakeholders and clients of the potential for action towards solving environmental and sustainability problems.
The Programme is implemented in more than 56 countries worldwide and is increasingly embraced by people who realise its importance for establishing sustainable practices in the tourism sector

The Green Key was created by the Foundation for Environmental Education, known as the FEE, an international non-governmental organization that has as a purpose the environmental education around the world.
