Greening Education Partnership
At the September 2022 Education Transformation Summit, UNESCO announced the global Greening Education Partnership (GEP) campaign.
The aim of the Partnership is to adapt education systems and equip students with knowledge, skills, values and attitudes on the complexity of the climate and environmental crisis, the interconnectedness of global sustainability challenges, as well as ways to contribute to solving problems in everyday contexts.
Eco-Schools as a tool
FEE’s “Eco Schools” international programme is the world’s largest education programme for sustainability and is implemented in 99 countries with the participation of 60,000 schools and 20 million students. UNESCO recognises Eco-Schools as a tool, with its seven-step methodology and holistic approach, as the most appropriate programme for Pillar 1 (Greening Schools) of
the GEP Partnership. Pillar 1 foresees that all countries will adopt a green school accreditation by 2030 with at least 50% of schools, colleges and universities carrying this accreditation.
As the national operator of the Eco-Schools programme in Greece, HSPN aims to be the key partner in achieving the national target of pillar 1 of the GEP Partnership.
