Our People

Nikos Petrou, a prosthodontist by profession, nature painter, photographer, and author of 18 books, has been a member of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) since 2003, a member of its BoD since 2005, and President of the Board since 2009. Additionally, he is a member of HSPN’s Nature Committee, responsible the «Blue Flag» programme in Greece, and coordinator of HSPN’s European projects team.

In 2025, he was elected President of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), one of the largest international environmental education organisations, becoming the first Greek to assume this position. He has been a member of the FEE Board since 2016 and served as Vice President of FEE from 2021 to 2025. He was also responsible for the international programme «Learning About Εcosystems and Forests», and a member of the international Steering Committee of the «Green Key» programme.

He played a key role in creating FEE’s GAIA 20:30 strategic plan and the amendment of FEE’s governance docyments. He has also been instrumental in securing partnerships for EU-funded projects and in promoting the development of the FEE Regional African Network.
