Socrates Zachos

Socrates Zachos studied International and European Studies at Panteion University. He completed postgraduate studies in Environmental Governance and Sustainable Development. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of International, European, and Regional Studies at Panteion University. His doctoral dissertation focused on environmental governance at the regional and local levels, during which he documented and codified the operations of 50 municipalities and 30 non-governmental organizations in the Mediterranean region.

He is a researcher at the international scientific center MEPIELAN at Panteion University (Mediterranean Programme for International Environmental Law & Negotiation). He has been involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of International, European, and Regional Studies at Panteion University.

For several years, he served as Special Advisor to the Mayor on Environmental Issues, Sustainable Development, and European Cooperation Networks, and later as the Secretary-General of the Municipality of Glyfada. Since 2024, he has been running a consulting services company specializing in strategic planning and implementation for First-Level Local Government (municipalities).
