From April 8th to 10th, the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN), as a partner of the INTERREG Euro-MED NaTour4CChange project, participated in a three-day training event focused on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS). The event was held in Marseille, France, at the Hôtel de Région – Regional Council of the Sud – Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region.
With the participation of representatives from the six pilot destinations involved in the project—Croatia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, Greece, and France—and the presence of all project partners, the three-day gathering provided a unique opportunity to review the project’s progress to date, exchange good practices, and engage in meaningful discussions and planning for the next steps.
Over the first two days, participants took part in presentations, training workshops, discussion sessions, and interactive exercises. Under the guidance of Irene Morell Rodríguez and Claudia Sánchez from NBSCLIMATE, an organization specialized in the design and implementation of NbS, participants engaged in a range of participatory design scenarios and exercises.
Following the two days of training and exchange, the group traveled to the Frioul Archipelago and the Calanques National Park, just four kilometers from the port of Marseille. There, they explored yet another example of natural habitat management in a protected area facing intense tourist pressure, especially during the summer months.
This three-day gathering in Marseille proved to be another excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange, strengthening synergies, and sharing good practices and experiences.
