Young Reporters for the Environment

The Young Reporters for the Environment programme encourages students aged 11-25 to:

  • Become informed and raise awareness about environmental issues through a holistic approach.
  • Investigate environmental issues and propose solutions using journalistic tools such as articles, photography, and video.
  • Collaborate with schools abroad to exchange information and data on the topic under investigation and produce a joint article and/or video.
  • Share the results of their research with their school and local community.
  • Participate in scheduled activities, events, festivals, conferences in Greece and abroad, or international missions as journalistic correspondents.

The Young Reporters for the Environment prepare throughout the school year and participate in the National and International Competition held annually each Spring.

Entries that stand out in the National Competition are automatically advanced to the International Competition.

Within the framework of the International Competition, Young Journalists have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers from schools participating internationally in the network. The goal is to exchange information and data on the topic under investigation to produce a joint journalistic article and/or video.

Additionally, Young Journalists have the chance to participate in scheduled activities, events, festivals, conferences in Greece and abroad, or international missions as journalistic correspondents.

The Network

  • The Network is approved by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports.
  • The founder and international coordinator is the Foundation for Environmental Education.
  • The national coordinator in Greece since 2001 is the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN).
